So How’s the Sequel Coming?

Friends, family members, and students have asked me one burning question. I’ve even received messages on Twitter, Goodreads, Wattpad, and other places with that very same question.

WHEN’S THE SEQUEL TO FLIPPING THE SCALES COMING OUT? After all, the first book came out in November, 2014. That’s right. 2014! And now it’s 2016. That’s too long!

Here’s the answer:

I don’t have a specific release date yet, but it’s coming. I’d like to say early this summer, like late June or early July. That’s one of many advantages to self-publishing; I can set and change my own release date. Also, once the file is uploaded, the book is for sale within 24 hours. It’s coming soon, and once the release date is decided, I’ll announce it here and Facebook and Twitter.

But you’ll know when the date’s approaching because I’ll do a couple really cool things.

1) I’ll reveal the cover design here and at all my social media accounts.

2) I’ll start posting the first few chapters on my Wattpad account. Actually, if you already own a copy of Flipping the Scales, then you have the first chapter of the sequel already in the very back of the book.

I can tell you a little bit more about what’s left to do. My beta readers have already been sent pages to read, and feedback is coming in. I’m putting finishing touches on the last 25% or so of the book before sending those to my betas. Then comes some revisions—so far the feedback has been really helpful and the necessary revisions are relatively minor. Then I’ll upload and order a proof paperback copy and do a final (slow & meticulous) read-through myself, hopefully catching everything that’s left. When I get to that phase, I’ll let you all know. After that, the book will be done and ready for purchase.

I thank everyone for being so patient. I’m not a full-time author, and I write in my limited spare time. Sometimes my muse is quite cooperative; other times, she isn’t. (I hope that didn’t make her mad because I need her by my side right now).

No matter what, I will keep you posted. Skipping the Scales is on its way, but there’s still some waiting ahead. I want it to be the best it can be so you can all think IT FLOWS!

Great to hear! I was a big fan of your original book. It even inspired me to try my own hand at writing a mermaid related book. I can’t wait to see what you’ve come up with in the sequel.

  2. Thank you, Jeff!

I’ve been reading it to my daughters, and they’ve told me they love the unexpected twists and turns in the tale. (Or is it tail?). They’re the first judges, since I wrote it for them. If they’re happy, I’m happy, but I’m absolutely overjoyed to hear how much other people have loved the story.

It is coming soon, sink or swim!

    Thanks for the comment,
