Congratulations, Kansas City Royals!

Last year, the Royals took the Giants all the way to Game 7. Without Madison Bumgarner, the Giants wouldn’t have won that series. The Royals played far better as a team than the Giants did. So it’s extra special not only for the Royals to make it to the World Series in back-to-back years, only the third team since 2002 to achieve this feat. The others were the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008 (won) & 2009, and the Texas Rangers in 2010 & 2011 (lost both).

And this time, the Royals were a team with a clear mission, which they accomplished. They outplayed the New York Mets in almost every measurable way. Salvador Perez, their catcher, won the MVP award, getting 8 hits in 22 at-bats and being invaluable behind the plate.

So let’s give them a cheer one more time:
