“A writer writes, always.”

The above quote is said by Billy Crystal in the film Throw Momma from the Train, and it’s a line that has stuck with me…always. Why? Well, because I like to write; always have.

I’ve been creating stories and plays for as long as I can remember. I’ve had the good fortune to have produced and directed a handful of the plays I’ve written, and I’ve had the even better fortune of getting one of those plays published. That’s Tracks, which can be found here: http://www.dramaticpublishing.com/p1879/Tracks/product_info.html

Now I’m on a quest to become a published novelist. But like all writers, I battle occasional bouts of writer’s block. One cure for writer’s block is to write something else, and so I’ve decided to enter the blogosphere. (Wow, Word didn’t give me any red squiggly lines under the word blogosphere. There—it didn’t do it again!)

I’m going to write about my quest, my writing process, the books that I’m writing, the books that I’m reading, and whatever else comes to my mind when I’m battling the block. In short, I’m going to write about ALL SORTS OF STUFF! More on that title in a later post. Or two. Or twenty-three.

I’d like to say that I’m going to post regularly, but as a writer, teacher, director, father, and all around cool dude, life does get busy at times. The school year just started, after all. When I have something interesting to share, I’ll post it here. And when I’m not posting something here, maybe I’m writing something else.

Because I’m a writer, and writers write. Always.
